LNP Formulation RA

processes in the lab along the way.

mRNA lets small teams do things that would have previously required an entire company, so our key focus is empowering creative individuals to follow their curiosity. Scientists who joined us early in their careers have  made discoveries with major impact on HelixNano’s future. This is initially a RA-level position, but we will help you to grow rapidly as a scientist and cultivate your personal superpowers through coaching and mentoring.

All this to say: you’ll be a true partner and we’ll lean on you for advice and direction based on your expertise (both current and learned!).

Here are some overall responsibilities we expect you will handle in this role:

  • Carry out LNP formulation for multiple R&D projects

  • Anticipate the needs of downstream applications; assure ample doses, volumes, etc for the intended model system [?, not sure how to word this]

  • Conduct relevant assays to assess formulation payload and particle characteristics

  • Assist in automated lab processes adjacent to formulation workflow [?, if we wanted them to assist with DNA template production or future formulation automation ]

  • Manage and maintain sterile lab practices

What we are looking for

No strict prerequisites - some of the best people we’ve worked with have come from nontraditional paths.  Having said that, the strongest candidates will likely have ~3 years of molecular biology or relevant delivery/formulation expertise, including microfluidic synthesis, UV/vis spectroscopy and dynamic light scattering (DLS). Added pluses: you have experience optimizing formulation parameters such as flow rate and N:P ratio, knowledge about the lipid delivery space/similar delivery platforms, or are particularly excited about of the relationship between mRNA structure/sequence/modifications/charge on LNP efficacy/morphology.

As important, we’re looking for someone who is:

  • A stellarn amazing communicator and fantastically organized — you will have total ownership of LNP formulation at HelixNano, and you will be the source of truth for all formulation plans. So, you will need to adeptly manage multiple people’s timelines and priorities all while fine-tuning our processes andall while,; you’ll need to communicatinge “up” (and around, and out, and across 🙂) to ensure everyone is on the same page, including yourself!

  • Lives and breathes organizational processes — can’t NOT build (or fine-tune) systems as they work.

  • Precise and diligent — has superb sterile technique.

  • Excellent at time management, is self-driven. Asks questions when needed.

  • Skillful at context switching — able to operate simultaneously in the minutiae as well as in big-picture mode.

  • Energized by new challenges and inspired to find new solutions.

If this sounds like you, we’re really excited to meet you. Reach out to jobs@helixnano.com and send us your resume (no need for a cover letter!).
